Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Saxony-Anhalt's Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) has again rejected the opposition left's demand to include the state parliament in future corona policy.

"In a pandemic (...) we cannot afford the usual opinion and decision-making processes in the time they need," said Haseloff in a special session of parliament on Thursday.

He referred to the high infection levels in the Czech Republic: There had only been discussions about a corona regulation for weeks before rules were extended and new ones issued.

Haseloff had previously issued a government statement on the corona policy in which he came to the conclusion that the processes in Saxony-Anhalt were very efficient.

A subsequent government declaration would not involve parliamentary participation, criticized the Left.

"None of this was new, the gain in knowledge was extremely small - that really has nothing to do with parliamentary participation," said their parliamentary group leader Thomas Lippmann.

Almost every other federal state has now developed ways of involving the parliament in the decisions of the federal-state switches, in which the basic corona policy is determined.

"Why are you resisting it so stubbornly?" Asked Lippmann.

The left got support from the co-ruling Greens.

State chairman Sebastian Striegel said that the state parliament is the body that represents those directly affected.

"We want this parliamentary participation, we will continue to work towards it."
