Leipzig (dpa / sn) - After a major corona outbreak in a Leipzig nursing home, almost a quarter of the residents died.

The outbreak began a few days after residents had been vaccinated, the city announced on Thursday.

However, it is not clear whether the people were infected before or after the vaccination appointment.

Two appointments are necessary for corona vaccinations so that they can develop full protection.

The «Leipziger Volkszeitung» had previously reported on it.

The outbreak began on January 18, and the first vaccinations began on the 14th.

According to the city, 70 people lived in the nursing home.

46 residents and 21 employees were infected.

16 residents died.

The home was placed under quarantine, which was lifted on February 10.

All residents are currently tested negative.
