Breitenau (dpa / sn) - Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) wants to find out more about the controls on entry today (13.00) at the German-Czech border crossing on Autobahn 17 in Breitenau.

Seehofer is accompanied by his Saxon colleague Roland Wöller (CDU).

The motorway 17 from Prague to Dresden, which on the Czech side bears the designation D 8, is one of the main routes for traffic from the Balkans to Western Europe.

After the border controls introduced on Sunday in response to the high number of corona infections in the Czech Republic, a kilometer-long queue formed on Monday in Breitenau when entering the country.

Traffic has been running smoothly again since Tuesday.
