Dresden / Berlin (dpa / sn) - The Saxon Minister of Social Affairs Petra Köpping (SPD) said she did not wear mouth and nose protection in the car.

"Deep in work and in a phone call about vaccinations, I didn't wear a mask in the car today," she wrote on Wednesday on the Internet platforms Facebook and Instagram.

The "Bild" newspaper reported on it with photos.

"I am of course aware of the requirements of the Corona Protection Ordinance and stand behind it," it says in the statement.

«Corresponding fines also apply to me.

Anyone who knows me knows that I wear a strict mask, of course also in the ministry.

Politicians are role models, but also only people. "

According to the current Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance, a medical mask has to be worn in the car for a few days if more than one household is traveling.

The state government wants to curb infections in car pools, for example among craftsmen.

The cabinet passed a new regulation on Friday, which is valid until March 7th.
