Berlin (dpa / bb) - For the around 100,000 employees in the metal and electrical industry in Berlin and Brandenburg, there should be a zero round from the employer's perspective this year.

They submitted an offer in the collective bargaining on Wednesday that "the payment of a mixture of one-off payment and table increase from 2022" would enable, as the Association of the Metal and Electrical Industry in Berlin and Brandenburg announced on Wednesday.

"Our companies have to cope with the consequences of the pandemic, withstand the growing uncertainty and at the same time master structural change," said negotiator Stefan Moschko after the third round of negotiations.

The offer paves the way to a swift and balanced deal for companies and employees.

The employers would also like to enable companies to regulate job security individually.

A passage is also proposed that automatically exempts companies from additional burdens in a crisis.

IG Metall had already rejected similar proposals in West German collective bargaining districts in recent weeks.

The union also demanded improvements in Berlin and Brandenburg on Wednesday.

"The employees are those who, through the crisis, with mask, distance and hygiene compliance or from the home office, have maintained their economic strength and have often produced through," argued Birgit Dietze, the district manager for Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony.

The union demands a volume of four percent more money for twelve months, which is to be used to secure employment and income.

In the east, a further adjustment to the west wages is required.
