Dresden (dpa / sn) - According to the Left, the so-called Reich citizens continue to represent a serious security problem in Saxony. "There was no relaxation in the Corona year 2020 either - 413 relevant cases were recorded.

In 2019 there were 422, "said the member of the state parliament Kerstin Köditz on Wednesday in Dresden.

For about four years now, the procedures have been recorded in a special database labeled "Reich Citizens".

At the beginning there were an average of 30 per month, now there are 37. From March 2018 to the end of 2020 there were a total of 1269 preliminary investigations, in which, according to Köditz, 415 people, some of whom were repeatedly accused, had a connection to the scene of the "Reichsbürger" or "Selbstverwalter".

According to their presentation, the proceedings from the queried period are spread over 108 criminal offenses, many of them from the area of general crime and often without any recognizable political reference.

Coercion (232), insults (111) and fraud (81) were recorded most frequently.

In addition, there are also a number of sometimes dangerous physical injuries, violations of the weapons and narcotics law and serious sexual crimes.

"The Dresden public prosecutor's office, which, statistically speaking, handles more than a quarter of all Reichsbürger cases," said Köditz, is the most heavily burdened.

"Reich citizens" are also a persistent security problem for courts.

In 2020, special precautions such as stricter admission controls and additional security forces had to be ordered in at least 76 negotiations - mostly in criminal matters.

Nevertheless, at least three negotiations were severely disrupted.

In 2019, 67 relevant negotiations had to take precautions because there were security concerns.

In Köditz's view, this is apparently only the tip of the iceberg, as the data are “not necessarily complete”, according to the Justice Minister.

The Ministry of the Interior put the number of “Reich Citizens” in Saxony at 1050 at last. 70 of them are said to have links to right-wing extremism.

"Reich citizens" do not recognize the Federal Republic as a state.

For example, they deny the constitution, authorities and courts of legitimacy and do not accept official decisions.
