Berlin (dpa / bb) - An apartment fire in a dormitory in Berlin-Borsigwalde triggered a major fire service on Wednesday morning.

A resident was injured in the fire on the first floor of the four-story building in Conradstrasse, said a fire department spokesman.

Accordingly, residents reported an explosion.

Rescue workers also heard popping noises when they arrived.

The fire department was deployed with around 60 people, said the spokesman.

More than 70 residents were looked after on site and have since been accommodated in two buses.

It was initially unclear when they could return to their apartments.
