Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - After confusion about statements by the Saarland Minister of Health Monika Bachmann (CDU) about an allegedly low willingness to vaccinate with the Astrazeneca vaccine, criticism rises.

Bachmann had “done a lot of damage” with “the mess of communication” around failed Astrazeneca vaccinations, said SPD General Secretary Christian Petry on Wednesday in Saarbrücken.

"She is fueling the acceptance problems for the vaccine herself, which she wrongly named as the reason for missing appointments."

On Monday, Bachmann had criticized the state parliament as “not showing solidarity” that on the weekend 54 percent of 200 people registered for a vaccination did not show up for a “special vaccination in the medical field” without canceling the appointment.

Apparently this has to do with the fact that this vaccine is only 70 percent effective, she said.

Later it turned out that the problem had more to do with making appointments - according to the ministry, appointments had been made at very short notice.

The parliamentary manager of the left-wing faction in the state parliament, Jochen Flackus, called on Bachmann to apologize “to the doctors and staff who were wrongly attacked by them”.

The organizational mishaps in the Ministry of Health are "embarrassing": doctors and employees who had long since been vaccinated were sometimes written to.

Others would not have known about the appointment.

The left faction has requested a special meeting of the health committee.

The FDP Saar criticized: «It cannot be that Ms. Bachmann is shifting the gross errors in the coordination of appointments from her ministry and the subordinate authorities onto the medical staff.

This gives the public a completely wrong impression, ”said the party.

The Saarland “embarrassed itself nationwide thanks to Ms. Bachmann”.

Prime Minister Tobias Hans (CDU) must "draw the conclusions," it said.
