Loxstedt (dpa) - Jasmin Karl (41) and her eleven-year-old daughter Finja have an unusual hobby: They assemble dolls from kits and paint them so that they look alive.

Some have a battery-operated heart, and there are granules in the body to achieve a realistic baby weight.

Two dozen copies of the reborn dolls are decoratively placed at their home in Loxstedt near Cuxhaven.

Jasmin Karl discovered baby dolls on the Internet three years ago, and since then she has put them together one after the other, adding glass eyes, hair, eyelashes, umbilical cord and pink color to the face, arms and legs.

Not everyone can do something with their hobby.

"You're freaky," she had to listen to.

But Jasmin Karl is not interested in replacing children - she has six children, the oldest is 20, the youngest seven.
