Moderna in February will deliver 248,000 doses of vaccine instead of the 488,000 planned, practically halving the expected quantities.

This is what is learned from the offices of the extraordinary commissioner for the coronavirus emergency, Domenico Arcuri, about the delays announced by the company, according to what the spokesman of the European Commission made known today.

"Moderna has announced some delay in February deliveries, which will be recovered in March," the spokesperson said in the morning.

On the negotiation that, according to reports circulated in the German press, is in progress for a pre-purchase contract for an additional 150 million doses with the American biotech company (with which the EU already has an agreement for a total of 160 million doses) the same spokesperson replied: "we do not comment on the ongoing negotiations".

100 million doses to the US by March

Moderna plans to deliver 100 million doses of Covid vaccine to the US government by the end of March.

Another 100 million will be delivered by May and another 100 by July.

Moderna announces this in a note, underlining that the commitment to deliveries is linked to an increase in production in recent months and to the forecast of a further increase in the coming months.
