No school closures or localized confinement.

To counter the spread of the English variant which is causing the incidence rate to explode in the Dunkirk conurbation (658 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), the ARS of Hauts-de-France has preferred to opt for an exceptional screening campaign.

Thursday and Friday, four cities of the agglomeration (Dunkirk, Bergues, Cappelle-Brouck and Wormout) will welcome all those who wish to be tested in large dedicated rooms.

Antigenic tests followed by PCR tests if the result is positive will be set up in Dunkirk.

And nasopharyngeal PCR tests with results within 24 hours in the other three municipalities.

The mayor of Dunkirk considers these measures insufficient

At the same time as this screening campaign, 2,400 additional doses of Moderna vaccine were specially allocated to the urban community of Dunkirk to speed up vaccination.

Insufficient measures according to Patrice Vergriete.

The mayor of Dunkirk and president of the urban community regrets that the state refuses to close schools in the face of the situation.

"We started with measures that have nothing to do with the reality of this territory, we still wonder how it is possible", lambasted the elected official who is worried about the spread of the English variant in the rest of the region.
