Potsdam (dpa / bb) - According to a survey, the Corona crisis does not stop at the export business of Brandenburg companies.

Almost every second company that is active in foreign trade reports a decline in exports in 2020, according to a current survey of over 100 companies among over 100 companies published on Tuesday by the country's chambers of industry and commerce.

Only 14 percent said that they were able to increase their foreign trade sales.

Companies in industry in particular had to accept significantly more declines in exports.

Around 55 percent reported a decline in sales in the foreign trade business compared to 2019. In the service sector, according to the survey, around 36 percent.

A third of the companies saw the large number of canceled international trade fairs and events as the biggest stumbling block.

Problems with foreign business were mainly due to the travel and contact restrictions to business partners abroad.

Missing goods and services also had a negative impact, reported the companies surveyed.

One fifth of the companies complained about problems with the posting of employees.

After all, 37 percent of the export companies did not feel any negative effects from the Corona crisis.

“This gives us hope and makes us optimistic,” said Christ.

Despite everything, the export expectations for the next twelve months appear more positive than the assessment of the past financial year.

According to this, a good quarter of the companies surveyed expect increasing sales in foreign business, with service providers it is around 16 percent.
