The presidium of Hamburger SV headed by the former German national soccer player Marcell Jansen has resigned.

"Dear members, dear HSVers, after very intensive and goal-oriented discussions in the past few days, we as the Presidium have decided together to resign from our Presidium offices with immediate effect and thus no longer apply the last differences of opinion in the Presidium to a topic within our association make ”, it says in a statement published on Tuesday evening by Hamburger SV eV.

There has been a dispute in the management of the association for months.

Vice President Thomas Schulz and Treasurer Moritz Schaefer had different views than Jansen on important issues.

Among other things, it was about the candidates for the supervisory board of the football club of the league leaders of the 2nd Bundesliga and the possible sale of further shares.

Jansen will continue to hold his position on the supervisory board until the presidium is re-elected, a renewed candidacy of the former professional footballer for the club's leadership is expected, he also enjoys the trust of shareholder Klaus-Michael Kühne.

The association's managing director, Kumar Tschana, will initially take over the management of the association.

In the background, there is also speculation about a return of the former CEO Bernd Hoffmann, who was sold out a year ago - also at the instigation of Jansen.

Schulz and Schaefer are assigned to his camp.

A comeback by Katja Kraus, once a member of the club's management under Hoffmann, is also mentioned as a possible scenario.

Today she works successfully in the PR industry.

The supervisory board of the Fußball AG is also co-determined through the eV, from which the influential and well-paid executive board positions are determined.

This area is currently managed by CFO Frank Wettstein and Sports Director Jonas Boldt.

The professional team is so far unimpressed

Unlike in many previous years, however, the sporting performance is still decoupled from the squabbles in the club, the professional team under the guidance of coach Daniel Thioune leads the table in the second division - but only on points with the table third.

The renewed unrest in the club could also mean that for the third time in a row the promotion to the elite class, which HSV still feels a part of, fails.
