Bayreuth (dpa / lby) - The lawyers of the former operator of a hookah bar in Bayreuth have appealed.

They don't believe the 30-year-old raped a young woman.

The Bayreuth Regional Court had sentenced the defendant to five years' imprisonment with placement in a rehab facility last week.

From the court's point of view, the former bar operator lured the woman into his apartment at the end of January 2020.

There he is said to have forced the then 22-year-old to have anal intercourse and offered two acquaintances to have sex with her.

From the court's point of view, only an accidental call from a friend possibly prevented group rape.

The 30-year-old had asserted in court that the sex was consensual.

At the end of the trial, his two defense lawyers pleaded for acquittal.
