In total, the increased admixture of biogas results in a reduction in emissions corresponding to 9,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

According to Destination Gotland's climate roadmap, carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 70 percent by 2030, compared with 2010.

- This is an incredibly important step for us, and I am proud and happy that we are involved and contribute to the development of shipping towards reduced emissions. We are determined to switch to a climate-smart Gotland trip and by 2045, preferably much earlier, Gotland traffic must be completely fossil-free, says Christer Bruzelius, CEO of Destination Gotland in the press release.
