The 255 RHDP candidates [Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace] in the March legislative elections were invested this Tuesday, February 16, in the presence of the party leader, Alassane Ouattara.

On March 6, the presidential party lines up candidates in each of the constituencies in the face of an opposition determined to steal the majority.

The RHDP also puts most of its barons and ministers in order of battle.

Faced with the assembled candidates, Alassane Ouattara returned to

the political dialogue and the appeasement gestures made

after the period of political tension in 2020. And in particular the conditional release of certain opposition leaders accused of being involved in electoral violence .

"

The investigations are continuing and I must say that we will be surprised at the results of this investigation as to the involvement of certain personalities who we really believe to be people of great wisdom and great integrity

," he said.

We must end impunity.

Reconciliation cannot be done without justice

Ouattara asks independents to withdraw in favor of the party

Regarding RHDP legislative candidatures, Alassane Ouattara said he was disappointed with the low number of women aligned: 39 out of 255. He also indicated that he had only had to arbitrate a dozen candidacies in total, sign, according to him, of the good progress of the selection process.

But he also had a word for the unsuccessful candidates who present themselves without a label and who could lose constituencies to the RHDP.

"

I would like to salute the contribution of some of our candidates who had become independent and who agreed to withdraw in order to give better chances to our great party

," he declared.

So those who have not yet done it, I ask you to do it, it is in the interest of our party and in your interest

 ”.

The objective assigned by the president of the RHDP to his candidates: to do better than the 148 seats available to the party in the outgoing Assembly.
