Berlin (dpa) - The Federal Ministry of the Interior sees no major problems with the Corona border controls to the Czech Republic and Tyrol that began on Sunday.

"It is completely normal that there are logistical difficulties at the beginning of the measures, but that will be resolved quickly in the next few days," said the spokesman for the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Steve Alter, the German press agency on Tuesday when asked.

The «Spiegel» had previously reported on a thinned out border troop, which in practice had to rely on Gap.

For example, a border crossing in Saxony is not monitored at night, writes the magazine's online portal.

The ministry said that the federal police were aligning their controls with priorities - “but there is a continuous control on the main traffic routes”.

The Czech Republic and most of Tyrol (Austria) are considered areas in which mutated variants of the coronavirus have already spread widely.

With a few exceptions, almost only Germans and foreigners residing in Germany are allowed to enter from here.

Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU), in consultation with Bavaria and Saxony, ordered stationary controls at these border sections.

There are exceptions for commuters from certain sectors.

Especially when entering from the Czech Republic, there were at times long traffic jams on Monday.

The situation was more relaxed on Tuesday.
