16 February 2021 The Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, has been working for days on the speech that he will have to give tomorrow on his debut in Parliament.

An exhausting and meticulous work that does not stop even in these hours and that will try to embrace all the issues at the center of what should be the action of the new government, immediately and without uncertainty.

Complex topics, some totally to be reformulated, but all fundamental for the life of the entire country.

Starting with vaccines and overcoming the pandemic.

From economic recovery, with emphasis on environmentalism and job protection.

From the opportunity given by the Recovery fund to be exploited to relaunch the country, starting with infrastructures.

From Europeanism and Atlanticism as guidelines for foreign policy.

And then the reforms, namely taxation, civil justice and public administration.

All this with the urgency and the need to work united and compact for a single purpose that is the good of the country and not of individual political forces, in the most critical moment in its history since the post-war period.

Mario Draghi will be tomorrow morning, Wednesday, in the Senate classroom, Thursday in the Chamber: numbers are not a problem, a substantial majority is expected for confidence in the government.

But his speech is of fundamental importance because it will help to understand Draghi's project.

Attention is maximum: since the day of his assignment, when he made a brief statement, Draghi hasn't spoken to journalists anymore.

"We have not done anything yet, so we have nothing to say", the message-recommendation to the ministers after the first inauguration CD.

And even in the days of the consultations for the formation of the government, the parties had been stunned: "More than talking, listen", they said.

The speech will be addressed to the newborn majority, but also to those who have chosen to be in the opposition: it is not the time for divisions and words, it is the time for action to "secure the country".

"Awareness of the emergency requires responses to match the situation", he said in his statements at Colle, recalling that "we have the opportunity to do a lot for our country, with a careful look at the future of the younger generations and at strengthening of social cohesion ".

With Draghi there will be ministers, but not all 23: not for political reasons, but for health reasons.

Too many in fact to sit all together at the government benches.

the members of the newly formed team will alternate - always maintaining the representation of the various parties - both in the Senate and in the Chamber to give their support to the premier.

Waiting for the vote of confidence in the Senate, feverish negotiations are underway behind the scenes to package the puzzle that the prime minister would like to compose within the week and then devote himself to government activity.

The seats to be assigned are 36 and the parties to be satisfied are many.

As for the Democratic Party, a non-trivial issue is that of the internal controversy over the presence of women.
