Rostock (dpa / mv) - A taxi driver saved a pensioner in Rostock from a high loss of money due to corona fraudsters.

As a police spokeswoman announced on Tuesday, a man called an 86-year-old woman who pretended to be a doctor at the Rostock University Hospital.

Accordingly, he claimed that her grandson had been infected with the corona virus and was dying.

The grandson needs vaccinations with an unapproved vaccine from the USA, which has to be injected five times.

The fraudster ordered the woman a taxi to come to the bank, as he said.

There she should withdraw 40,000 euros.

When the woman told the taxi driver this, he explained to her about such scams.

She turned on the police from the taxi.

The perpetrators are being searched for.
