Brake (dpa / lni) - Police and municipalities in the Wesermarsch district have announced increased controls because of the night curfew from Tuesday evening.

A spokesman for the district administration in Brake said there will be controls not only in the cities, but also in the countryside.

Due to a high infection rate with the corona virus, exit restrictions apply for one week between the Weser and the Jade Bay between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

On Tuesday, the incidence in the Wesermarsch district was calculated at 239.3 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days, as the Ministry of Health in Hanover announced (as of 9:00 a.m.).

That was already a slight decrease from the highest recorded incidence of 254 on Monday.

According to the ministry, only eight new infections have been recorded in the district since Monday.

The focal points of the infections are still care facilities for the elderly and the disabled and the Brake Hospital, said the district spokesman.

In a hypermarket in Brake, which was at the beginning of the strong increase, there are no more infections.

There are exceptions to the curfew, as were common in other districts.

This includes the way to or from work, visits to the doctor, help for those in need, but also walking a dog.

You don't have to spend the night in your own apartment.

However, staying overnight in other households is only permitted if the applicable contact restrictions are observed.

Nevertheless, citizens had so many questions about the lock announced on Monday that the police's phones were overloaded.

The police therefore asked the citizens to contact the district.

With curfews in Lower Saxony, the county of Bentheim and the district of Gifhorn have also tried to reduce their high infection rates.
