Munich (AP) - David Alaba has confirmed his departure from Bayern at the end of the season.
"I personally made the decision to do something new after this season, to leave the club," said the defense chief of the German record champions on Tuesday at a press conference.
Alaba's farewell had long been considered safe.
The defender's contract expires in the summer, and he can then move on for free.
The Austrian has not yet found a new employer.
"I have not yet made the decision where the journey will go," said Alaba.
It is expected that he will move abroad.
Real Madrid have been the favorites so far.
“It's no secret that my management is in contact with the clubs,” he replied when asked about a possible interest from FC Barcelona.
Alaba's successor at Bayern is Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig.
