A magnitude 6.2 earthquake strikes the Pacific island of Vanuatu

 The US Geological Survey said Tuesday that an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale shook the island of Vanuatu in the Pacific Ocean.

The agency said that the earthquake was at a depth of ten kilometers.

The Tsunami Warning Center in the Pacific Ocean confirmed that no tsunami waves were expected in the aftermath of the earthquake.
