The President of the Government of Aragon, the socialist Javier Lambán, confirmed this Monday that he had been diagnosed with colon cancer.
He announced it in a brief appearance before the media, after he was discharged from hospital this Sunday, Lambán explained that last week he was diagnosed with colon cancer and that he will begin to be treated at the Miguel Servet Hospital the next days.
However, it has indicated that, "despite this, the Government of Aragon and its president at the helm will continue to fight the pandemic" of the coronavirus. Lambán has assured that he will face the disease "continuing with his ordinary activity" and added that he does it like many other people.
Addressing journalists, he said: "I know that I have the respect of all of you and I thank you and I want you to know that you have my respect."
And he added: "There are issues that I would very much like to talk about, but mixing them with my colon cancer does not seem appropriate at this time."
The president of Aragon was already admitted last October for an infectious prostatitis.
On the other hand, the vice president of Aragon and Minister of Industry, Arturo Aliaga, continues to be admitted to the ward in a hospital in Zaragoza, where he is recovering after undergoing surgery a few weeks ago.
