Hanover (dpa / lni) - With a view to the severe weather forecasts of the German Weather Service, school lessons were canceled on Monday in numerous regions of Lower Saxony.

The city of Braunschweig announced at noon that face-to-face lessons and emergency care in the schools would be canceled with immediate effect as black ice could occur.

In the districts of Hameln-Pyrmont, the city of Hameln and the Helmsted district, face-to-face teaching and emergency care were also canceled.

In the district and the city of Osnabrück and in the district of Leer, classroom teaching was canceled.

On Monday, rain was supposed to move over Lower Saxony from the west, which could lead to black ice on the cold streets.

In East Frisia it started to rain in the morning, said a spokeswoman for the police station in Leer / Emden.

But there were no black ice accidents until noon.
