- Mom has received both doses of the vaccine now, and I think you should be able to open up for visits.

I do not understand why we have to wait almost three more weeks.

Neither I nor my mother feel good about this.

It will be like a prison for the elderly, says Laila Alnestål.

On Thursday, however, she had to meet her mother, when an exception was made.

In the clip above, Laila tells more about why she wants the nursing homes to open for visits.

Individual assessments

Tina-Marie Söderström is unit manager at Berguven's nursing home, where Laila Alnestål's mother lives.

She believes that exceptions from the restraining order are made when it is considered justified.

- We make individual assessments from case to case.

Nothing is done arbitrarily, but the well-being of both relatives and residents is taken into account.

We do not do this out of malice, but to protect our residents.

There are many factors that come into play when we decide on exceptions.

Among other things, exceptions are made if housing is for the dead, but also in other cases, she says and continues:

- It is not the case that the one who bothers the most is allowed to come, but it is an individual assessment that forms the basis for when an exception is made.

Everyone in the accommodation in question has received their second dose of the vaccine and right now there is no case of established infection in the unit.
