Suhl (AP) - The police stopped a wrong-way driver on Autobahn 71 in the Thuringian Forest.

The car sped around 15 kilometers in the wrong lane between the Meinigen-Nord junction and the Suhl triangle on late Sunday evening, as the motorway police announced.

He met several surprised drivers.

Five minutes after being alerted, two patrol cars were able to stop the car in the Berg Bock tunnel.

According to the police, the 24-year-old driver from Weimar and his co-driver blamed the navigation device for driving incorrectly at the Meiningen-Nord junction.

The police started investigations into suspicion of endangering road traffic.
