Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - In the revision process for the violent death of six-year-old Leonie from Torgelow (Western Pomerania-Greifswald), the public prosecutor has again demanded a life sentence for the stepfather.

The 29-year-old had committed the murder "for low motives," said public prosecutor Bernd Bethge on Monday at the Neubrandenburg district court.

The stepfather had a "negative attitude" towards both stepchildren and wanted to enforce his position of power by force.

In addition, the defendant is guilty of bodily harm resulting in death and the severe abuse of those under protection, including Leonie's brother.

Leonie was found dying in the family's apartment on January 12, 2019.

The 29-year-old was also silent in the revision process.

He had badly mistreated Leonie and had not allowed timely medical help.

A defense attorney stated that her client had "no intention to kill".

Therefore he should be sentenced to six years imprisonment for bodily harm, with Leonie resulting in death.

The verdict is due to be pronounced on February 25th.

The Federal Court of Justice had ordered the renegotiation.
