15 February 2021 Prime Minister Mario Draghi is at work at Palazzo Chigi.

The undersecretary to the presidency, Roberto Garofoli, also arrived at the Prime Minister's office this morning.

Tight deadlines, concrete interventions, unity as a necessary North Star.

The first days of the Mario Draghi government could travel on this triple track, looking, first of all, at the programmatic speech that the former governor of the ECB will hold this week in the Chambers.

Wednesday 17 at 10 is expected in the Senate.

The premier will focus on the country's emergencies, starting with those related to the pandemic.

With a knot that, in the next few days, Draghi will be called upon to resolve: whether to confirm - and with which powers - Commissioner Domenico Arcuri, Giuseppe Conte's right arm in the anti-virus strategy of the previous government.

The vote of confidence in the government is expected in the evening.

According to what is learned from parliamentary sources, after his speech the classroom should be suspended to allow the Prime Minister to deposit the programmatic lines in the Chamber.

It would then resume around noon with the general discussion that will go on for a few hours and which should be suspended a couple of times for anti Covid sanitizations.

Then replies and explanations of vote, until the 'call' of the senators expected around 20.30.

On the table of Palazzo Chigi there is the refreshment decree, which will be able to count on the 32 billion euro of the budget variance in January and which must essentially be rewritten.

Directing many resources to the production and hotel sector linked to skiing.

And then there is the communicative aspect.

"The sobriety that Draghi himself asked of us ministers in the CDM applies to everyone", explains a government source, pointing the finger at the words of the consultant to the Minister of Health, Walter Ricciardi.

Draghi will have to deal with the difficult coordination of CTS experts, technical ministers and political ministers, expressions of 5 different political forces.

And, again for Draghi, it will be up to identify the difficult point of balance on the team of undersecretaries.

The game, according to qualified government sources, will be closed within the week, at the latest on Friday.

The boxes to be filled in are different and, as for those of the government, not all of them would be destined for politicians.

While the delegation to the secret services, on which Renzi drew up his plan to defenestrate Conte, could return to the premier's hands.

The parties, meanwhile, are trampling.

Their goal is to bring some "big guys" as deputy technical ministers.

By focusing above all on profiles that have already been in government, an element that Draghi himself would like.

And then there is the Recovery dossier, which Draghi will develop in very close coordination with the EU.

At the moment of a real control room there is no trace but a structure for monitoring should be there while the interministerial committee which with Conte was chaired by Enzo Amendola will be led by Roberto Cingolani.

Recovery which will certainly be one of the pillars of Draghi's speech to the Chambers, together with the vaccine plan for teaching in times of Covid.

EU, Gentiloni: "We will work together with Draghi on reforms"

"I am sure that with the new" Italian "government we will work together above all for reforms concerning bureaucracy in public administration, the times of civil justice, competition rules: all bottlenecks that in recent years have slowed down Italian growth ".

The EU Commissioner for the Economy, Paolo Gentiloni, said this in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

"It is excellent news not only for Italy but also for the European Union that Mario Draghi will take care of" the management of the Recovery Fund "with all his experience and leadership", added Gentiloni.
