It was last summer that Esmeralda's mother was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison for aggravated manslaughter and drug offenses.

At the end of January, the prosecution submitted evidence that is believed to strengthen the criminal classification of murder or manslaughter.

Defense lawyer Emelie Righammar has also now submitted new evidence which is believed to show that Esmeralda's death was an accident and that the mother did not have any long-term drug abuse at all.

In addition to the defense wanting to hold additional interrogations with witnesses who have already been heard, a new witness is called who has not appeared either in the police preliminary investigation or in the district court.
