Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The audit office of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg is once again not entirely satisfied with the work of the Senate and the administration.

“As in previous years, the auditor's report for 2019 could only be issued to a limited extent by the audit office,” said audit office president Stefan Schulz on Monday when presenting the “annual report 2021”.

It is true that the annual and consolidated financial statements give a true and fair view of the asset, financial and earnings position.

"Nevertheless, we were again unable to issue an unqualified audit certificate."

The reasons for this are essentially unchanged.

"The money and accounting cycles are still not closed, the accounting is decentralized and very complex and IT processes are flawed," said Schulz.

Although improvements can be seen in some areas, “Hamburg must continue its efforts to create a consistently correct accounting system”.

Above all, the tax authorities must exercise their overall responsibility for bookkeeping more actively.
