• Australia A swimmer escapes a crocodile attack by forcing him to loosen his jaw

Australian authorities have ordered a second crocodile to be killed for examination for human remains, after a 69-year-old fisherman disappeared in north

Queensland

. The reptile, which measures about three meters, was captured and euthanized by officials. from the Department of Environment and Science near

Hinchinbrook

Island

last night, 'The Guardian' reported.

It is the second crocodile to be euthanized, after human remains were found inside another four-meter crocodile captured Saturday at

Gayundah Creek,

near where the man disappeared.

The police are now analyzing this second animal: "The tests will be carried out and that information will be provided to the coroner," said Inspector

Andrew Cowie

.

The missing man went fishing around 3 p.m. Thursday and was due to return in an hour, but never did.

Police found his boat capsized around dawn Friday,

with damage suggesting a crocodile attack

. Searchers found human remains in the creek before killing the first crocodile.

Queensland 'premier'

Annastacia Palaszczuk

said the man's death "is an absolute tragedy and I convey our condolences to his family, absolutely horrible," she told reporters.

Third attack in a month

It would be the third crocodile attack in Queensland this month, after

two swimmers survived in Cairns and Weipa

.

The animals responsible for the two attacks were either euthanized or relocated to a crocodile farm. The state's opposition leader,

David Crisafulli

, said he understood the dangers of crocodiles in Queensland's waterways and the importance of awareness programs. But he highlighted problems in controlling problematic animals: "What I'm saying is that people should go before crocodiles, and the culture should be to eliminate dangerous animals faster than they are," Crisafulli said.

Federal Representative

Bob Katter

said the state's crocodile management plan had cost one human life and put others at risk.

Katter's Australian Party

wants reptiles removed from populated places

and with higher egg collection rates to control the "explosive" population.
