Things are not going well for Liverpool after just two wins in the last 10 Premier League matches, with often trustworthy players making huge mistakes.

On his last visit to King Power, Liverpool presented one of his best performances during coach Jürgen Klopp's reign, when he beat Leicester 4-0, amid a march of 18 successive league victories.

And things changed a lot after 14 months, and the defending champion collapsed in the last 12 minutes, and conceded his net yesterday, Saturday, 3 quick goals to lose 3-1, which is the third consecutive defeat in the league.

This is the first time that Liverpool has experienced such a bad career in the league since 2014 when it was led by coach Brendan Rodgers, and he did not lose even two games in a row under Klopp's leadership until it fell 4-1 to Manchester City last Sunday.

Liverpool are now 13 points behind the lead after playing more matches than leaders City, and the German coach believes the gap is now insurmountable.

Asked whether he admits to losing the title this season, Klopp said, "Yes, I cannot believe, but yes."

"I don't think we can close the gap this year. Today we played a good game at times, we should avoid making mistakes and avoiding misunderstanding," he added.

"We have to take steps forward, do well again, and the results are related to that. We were good enough to win (the title) for long periods, but not to the end," he said.

Liverpool fell again due to defensive mistakes, and a lot was said about injury problems in their defense, but within a week the usually reliable first goalkeeper Allison Baker turned into the opposite.

Two horrific passes from Alison cost Liverpool the loss to City last week, and this time, after 3 minutes of Leicester equalizing after Liverpool advanced through Mohamed Salah, the Brazilian goalkeeper's decision to leave his own goal resulted in Jimmy Vardy scoring the goal that turned the match upside down.

Klopp said, "Allison gave a great game, and then at this point he left his own goal, I did not hear him shouting (to alert the defender Ozan Kabak), we are not looking for excuses, a lot of things are happening. The moment is difficult, the only way is to play good football, to fight and to make an effort.

Liverpool have now conceded 32 goals in 24 league matches this season, which is just one less than the number of goals they have received in the entire 2019-2020 season.

Injuries certainly haven't helped, but mistakes like Alison made in the past few weeks cannot be justified at this level.

Liverpool had to wait 30 years to win the league last season, but Liverpool's hopes of retaining the title for the first time since 1984 seem out of reach now as City return to its best form.
