The wave of cold and snow has now reached Turkey, starting in the north of the country.

The winter was very mild, up to 17 degrees again this week, but the temperatures dropped sharply and Istanbul woke up, this Sunday, February 14 in the morning, covered in snow.

Where does the sky begin where the snowy roofs of the city end.

Difficult to know this Sunday February 14.

It has been snowing continuously in Istanbul since last night.

Thick mist, wind in the street ... We don't see much a few meters away.

Childish games in the snow, it will be for later.

Above all, the economic capital of the country is already in slow motion on weekends, confinement requires Saturdays and Sundays, with the exception of an authorized exit for essential purchases.

It is therefore an unusual silence that reigns in this normally vibrant and electric city.

Stationary ferries

The Stambouliotes this Sunday are all locked up at home, especially since they know that with each snowstorm, it is a mess in transport.

There are already no more ferries, essential means of getting around here, taxis and cars are still running but the buses are slipping.

Finally, in the south-east of the country, the army came to the aid of the animals: the goats in the mountains can no longer find grass because of the snow.

This Saturday, soldiers dropped fodder to them by helicopter.
