7.3 earthquake occurred off the coast of Fukushima.

The Japanese archipelago is tense as the epicenter is almost the same as it was during the earthquake 10 years ago.

Let’s look at the report of Correspondent Yoo Seong-jae first, then connect directly to Tokyo.

<Reporter> The

whole room shakes violently along with a rumbling roar, and objects on the shelves fall off.

I try to support the shaking furniture with my hands, but I can't even stand up properly.

[Dangerous, dangerous!]

Last (13th) at around 11:7 pm, a 7.3 earthquake occurred on the seabed 55km deep off the coast of Fukushima, Japan.

In Miyagi and Fukushima Prefecture, where the maximum magnitude of 6 was observed, the ground shook greatly from side to side for more than 30 seconds, and in Tokyo, the large vibration of magnitude 4 continued for more than 10 seconds.

The earthquake was so big that vibrations were felt even in central Aichi Prefecture, 500 km away, but the epicenter was deep and there was no damage from the tsunami.

Some local residents, recalling the nightmare of the Great East Japan Earthquake 10 years ago, hurried to evacuate as shelters in the highlands.

[Fukushima residents: I felt horror because it was a big earthquake after a long time.]

More than 150 people have been injured so far, and 900,000 households have been blacked out at one time across the East Japan region.

The supply of tap water to more than 5,000 households was cut off, and the Self-Defense Forces started urgent water supply.

The Tohoku Shinkansen, a high-speed railroad, has been suspended on both up and down lines in some sections.

Tokyo Electric Power Corp. said that a small amount of water overflowed from the spent fuel tanks of units 5 and 6 of the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant, but it did not leak to the outside.

Correspondent Yoo Seong-jae said that Tokyo was also shaken. Was it okay at the time of the earthquake?

<Reporter>

Yes, I was in the living room at the time of the earthquake, but there was a severe shaking from side to side for about 10 seconds.

It was the biggest vibration I have experienced while living in Tokyo for over two years.

The Japan Meteorological Agency announced that the earthquake was the aftershock of the Great East Japan Earthquake that accompanied the tsunami 10 years ago.

The location of the earthquake is almost the same, and the spread of seismic waves is exactly the same as at the time. In the sea area near the epicenter, more than 30 aftershocks have continued since last night.

Around 4:30 pm this afternoon, the size of the aftershock reached 5.2.

If it was the aftershock of the Great East Japan Earthquake 10 years ago, there would be a lot of anxiety, but there is a possibility of another aftershock?

<Reporter>

This earthquake occurred within less than a month of the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, which killed more than 15,000 people.

Because of this, Japanese people who could not forget the memories of 10 years ago were forced to feel more anxious.

Last month, a giant squid over 4m in length was discovered in a fishing village in Shimane Prefecture, and even at this time, there were a lot of sayings whether it was a sign of a major earthquake.

The Japan Meteorological Agency announced that there was no fear of tsunami damage immediately after the earthquake, but uneasy residents were evacuated to high ground late at night.

Prime Minister Suga called for caution, saying that for the next week or so, we should be prepared for the possibility of an aftershock of the maximum magnitude of six.

The Japanese government is planning to start vaccinating medical staff from coronavirus as early as Wednesday, but it is said that the vaccine in storage has not been damaged.
