Many restaurants on the Ligurian Riviera di Ponente, especially in Ventimiglia, kept open on Valentine's Day despite the fact that the whole of Liguria was placed in the 'orange zone' with the ban on opening restaurants and bars.

The locals were full, especially by French customers who, unable to celebrate the feast of lovers in France, crossed the border.

Someone has gone as far as Sanremo.

In Ventimiglia, the 'Pasta e Basta' restaurant in the Marina San Giuseppe district has changed its sign to "Ora Basta".

"We had everything prepared for Valentine's Day, which is also why we decided to keep it open" says starred chef Ivano Ricchebono, who sold out in his restaurant in Genoa.

"Someone canceled because they didn't feel like it, others decided to come. And we sold out."

Other Genoese restaurants have decided to keep open: "We have had the support of the people and of the entire supply chain, starting with the suppliers - said a restaurateur - and if we are fined we will challenge and appeal".
