Bochum (AP) - VfL Bochum remains on the right track back into the Bundesliga.

With the 2-0 (2-0) win over Eintracht Braunschweig, the team of coach Thomas Reis closed in second place on points to second division leaders Hamburger SV and third Holstein Kiel.

In the empty Bochum stadium, Armel Bella Kotchap (8th minute) and Danilo Soares (32nd) ensured the deserved victory of Bochum, who last played first-class in the 2009/10 season.

Once again, Bochum benefited from their standard strength in their early lead when Bella Kotchap headed a corner from Robert Zulj.

In addition, the strong nerves of goalkeeper Manuel Riemann, who underlined his reputation as a penalty killer against Dong-Won Ji (25th), was again reliable.

Only seven minutes later, Soares set the signal for VfL early on with a shot from ten meters after another preparatory work by the strong Zulj.

Only the poor exploitation of chances in the second half prevented a higher victory of the promotion aspirant over the penultimate.
