In 24 hours, over a thousand interventions were carried out by the Fire Brigade throughout Italy.



Record cold in the

Vicenza area

 and polar cold in the

Veneto

mountains

In Cortina d'Ampezzo, where the World Ski Championships are underway, the thermometer marked -14.5.

In the mountains, polar temperatures were reached, with -27.7 degrees in Piana di Marcesina (Vicenza) at an altitude of 1,310 meters.

In the Venetian capitals, the minimums were all below zero with the record in Belluno of - 8.8.

The Arpa Veneto bulletin shows a frost situation extended to the whole region.



In 

Campania

 the Fire Brigade intervened, especially in the provinces of Naples and Salerno, with over 300 operations for unsafe trees, removal of obstacles, restoration of roads.

There was also a whole country without running water due to the failure of the lifting pumps caused by ice.

It happened in

Caggiano

, in the Salerno area, 2,700 inhabitants, where the frost has raged since Saturday.

In

Naples,

on the other hand, prolonged rains caused the fall of a piece of cornice of a building belonging to the Curia;

no one was injured thanks also to the fact that the accident happened at night.



In

Tuscany

, 310 interventions were carried out, the largest number between Florence and Prato.

In the region, where temperatures continue to drop significantly, the danger of ice returns.

The permanent unified operations room of the regional Civil Protection has issued an orange code for ice extended to almost the entire region, valid until 12 noon on Monday.



110 fire brigade interventions were also requested in

Emilia Romagna

, where Bologna and Forlì were the provinces most affected by bad weather.

The snow fell at low altitudes to the sea, with the beaches of the Adriatic Riviera covered by the white blanket.

In the region, the yellow alert for frosts and extreme temperatures was issued from midnight on February 14 to that of February 15.

This is the provisions of the ARPA and the regional Civil Protection.

In detail, explains the provision, "in the early morning hours of February 15, extended frosts are expected, with temperatures that may reach and locally exceed -8 degrees in the plains and hills, down to -12 degrees in the Apennine ridge areas".

Abruzzo

has been affected by heavy snowfalls that have led to traffic problems even on the motorway, the teams have been engaged for the removal of trees felled and for the safety of unsafe structures.

The provinces of Chieti, Teramo and L'Aquila are particularly affected.

Overall, over 90 interventions were carried out in the region.



In

Umbria,

the province of Perugia was hit by abundant snowfall: Firefighters engaged in 130 rescue operations.

In the region, the temperature dropped to -14.5 degrees on the highest peaks of the Umbria-Marche Apennines, as in the case of Forca Canapine.

The detection stations of the functional center of the regional Civil Protection recorded values ​​that reached -11 degrees in Castelluccio di Norcia, but also -9.6 in Cascia and -8 in Monteleone di Spoleto.

the provinces most affected by heavy snowfalls are Pesaro-Urbino, Ancona and Macerata, 150 interventions carried out by the Fire Brigade.
