Dresden (dpa / sn) - After the fire in a Dresden skyscraper with a dead two-year-old, specialists have started to investigate the cause.
The fire was extinguished shortly before midnight and embers were smothered until Saturday morning, the police said.
In the burning apartment on the fifth floor, the emergency services discovered the lifeless child and a seriously injured woman on Friday afternoon.
The 36-year-old was rescued from the balcony and taken to the hospital.
Any help came too late for the two-year-old and the boy died on site.
About 20 residents were brought to safety.
The criminal investigation department is investigating the case.
