Dresden (dpa / sn) - One day after the fire in a Dresden skyscraper with a dead two-year-old, the cause is still unclear.
"The investigation is ongoing," said a police spokesman on Saturday upon request.
Specialists have examined the apartment on the fifth floor where the fire broke out.
The emergency services discovered the lifeless boy and his seriously injured mother there on Friday.
They lived there alone.
The 36-year-old was rescued from the balcony and taken to the hospital.
For her son, however, any help came too late, and the boy died on site.
About 20 residents of the house had been brought to safety; they have now been able to return to their apartments.
The criminal investigation department is investigating the case.
