China would have refused to hand over some key data to the World Health Organization team that investigated the origins of Covid-19 in Wuhan: one of the team members, microbiologist Dominic Dwyer, denounced it in an interview with several international media.

The team requested raw patient data from early cases, in what they termed 'standard practice', but experts would only be given a summary.

"We want more data on possible cases before December 2019"

WHO wants more data from Beijing, especially on possible Covid-19 cases before December 2019: Peter Ben Embarek, the head of the mission, expressed his frustration at lack of access to raw data.

"We want more data. We asked for more data," he said in an interview with the AFP.

On Tuesday, the international team presented the first results at a press conference in China, ruling out the hypothesis that the virus has leaked from a laboratory.

A WHO source said yesterday that the team is working on a summary report that is expected to be released next week and that a full final report will be released in the coming weeks.
