Tunisian Prime Minister ruled out his resignation due to the dispute with President Kais Saeed

Yesterday, Tunisian Prime Minister Hicham El Mechichi ruled out the possibility of his resignation from his post in light of the constitutional crisis in Tunisia, due to the heated dispute with the President of the Republic, Qais Saeed.

Al-Meshishi, who has been leading a technocratic government since last September, told reporters that he is a "soldier in the service of the nation" and he will not resign.

Tunisia is experiencing a complex constitutional crisis, due to President Qais Said's refusal to accept the new ministers chosen by Prime Minister Hicham El-Mechichi in the cabinet reshuffle, to take the oath after gaining confidence from Parliament on January 26th.

President Saeed attributed his position to his reservations about some ministers, claiming that there are suspicions of corruption and conflict of interests hovering around some of them.

"We will find solutions that guarantee the continuity of the public facility," Al-Mashishi said.

The failure to invite ministers to take the oath has disrupted the state’s interests.
