Due to the late announcement that deliveries of vaccines to Sweden have been delayed, the Norrbotten Region is now forced to change the vaccination plan that has been drawn up.

- There will be some rebookings in the vaccination phase we are in right now, Phase 1, but everyone will get their vaccine, says chief physician Pia Näsvall in the region.

The very oldest

It is the deliveries of Moderna's vaccine against covid-19 that have been delayed.

The mother's vaccine is one of the two mRNA vaccines that are approved to be given to people over the age of 65 and it will therefore be the age group that suffers from delays.

Next week, the region had planned that everyone involved in PHASE 2 could start booking vaccinations.

Now they will instead divide that group into subgroups and start with the very oldest.

Sneaks in

- We have to sneak in the vaccinations in PHASE 2 because we do not have that many vaccines right now.

We start with those who are 85 years or older.

They will receive a letter next week and it is also possible to find the information on 1177. Then we will continue with more age groups within PHASE 2 as we get more vaccines, says Pia Näsvall.

At the same time, deliveries of Astra Seneca's vaccine, which is aimed at people under the age of 65, will begin to arrive in Norrbotten.

- We can not leave the vaccine lying around and we will therefore start vaccinating people under the age of 65 in parallel with the elderly.

We will then follow the order of priority and first out will be people who work in healthcare and should have been vaccinated in Phase 1.
