On Thursday, the evidence case ended against the boy who admitted that he stabbed a 17-year-old to death in Huskvarna this summer.

- My client's attitude is that he has not committed any crime, but that it was self-defense, says the boy's lawyer Elisabeth Nygren.

Hereditary in a quarrel

It was an early summer evening in August that a group of young people met at the barbecue area in Stadsparken in Huskvarna.

A 21-year-old man had bought alcohol and in the police preliminary investigation it appears that there are also drugs.

What makes the evening degenerate is a quarrel over money.

During questioning, the then 14-year-old boy says that there is a fight on the spot and the 17-year-old draws a knife at the 21-year-old and that he was afraid that he would kill him.

- I was just really scared.

I got a short circuit and only… did it, the boy has said in police interrogation.

His lawyer adds:

- They are young people and when you are that age you do not think in the same way as an adult.

No penalty is awarded

A trial that is an evidentiary action can be brought against a minor in the case of a serious crime where it is considered particularly important that the circumstances are clarified.

Elisabeth Nygren says that there have been emotional days in the district courtroom.

- Yes, it is clear that it has been.

It is young people who are involved.

On February 25, a decision on the debt issue awaits.

Since the boy was 14 years old when the crime was committed, no punishment will be handed down in the district court, an evidentiary action only determines what has occurred and who is guilty.

District Attorney Adam Rullman has chosen to label the act as manslaughter or aggravated assault.

He has previously told SVT that he wants the court to consider whether the boy's actions can be covered by the emergency law.

Treatment homes

- He is taken care of by the social authorities and is in a treatment home, says Elisabeth Nygren.

How is he?

- I do not want to go into that.
