Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The head of the Duckdalben sailors' club in the Port of Hamburg, Anke Wibel, is “Personality of the Year 2021” of the Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA).
Wibel is the face of an institution, thanks to which the seafarers feel connected to their homeland, said the laudator and director of the Peter Döhle Group shipping companies, Annette Suhrbier, the award, as the seamen's club announced on Friday.
Her work is characterized by a personal empathy towards seafarers regardless of skin color, religion or nationality.
In 2016, Wibel was the first woman to be honored with the Portugaleser in silver - one of the highest awards in the city of Hamburg.
