Schwerin (AP) - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) reacted with concern to the cancer of Gerlinde Kretschmann, the wife of Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens).
You wish both of them all the best and a lot of strength, said Schwesig on Friday in Schwerin.
The Greens politician had previously announced that his wife would partially withdraw from the current election campaign for the upcoming state elections because of his wife's breast cancer.
Schwesig was diagnosed with breast cancer himself in 2019 and had made it public.
In May 2020, she announced that she had survived the therapy well and had successfully completed it.
