Lübeck (dpa / lno) - Shortly before the Polish border, the police seized two limousines stolen a few hours earlier in the Lübeck area.

Officials also arrested a 27-year-old driver on Wednesday, as the police announced in Lübeck on Friday.

Both cars were stolen early Wednesday morning in Timmendorfer Strand (Ostholstein district) and Lübeck.

When a Lübeck owner noticed the theft around 6:15 a.m., the police had already intervened.

The other car owner had been woken up in Timmendorfer Strand around 3:30 a.m. by noises from outside and noticed the theft.

Police officers entered the car details in the wanted file.

About two hours after the crime, plainclothes officials wanted to check the car in Hohenwutzen in Brandenburg.

Its driver fled however on federal highway 158a in the direction of Poland.

The officials found the car abandoned shortly after the border.

Twenty minutes later, the driver of the second stolen car also fled from a police control, but had an accident shortly before the border.

He was arrested shortly afterwards.
