The snow delighted the inhabitants of Loire-Atlantique on Thursday, except that it has now turned into ice, placing the department in orange vigilance.
So much so that this Friday, many passers-by and motorists were surprised by the slippery pavement.
Since 5:30 am this morning, the departmental fire and rescue service has already intervened 41 times following falls or traffic accidents.
Nearly 150 firefighters were mobilized.
The report at 2 p.m. shows 32 minor injuries whose condition still required transport to hospital.
A man also died after losing control of his car in La Baule, shortly before 8:30 am this Friday morning.
According to firefighters, the victim, who died instantly, was found "submerged in a ditch near his vehicle".
Avoid any movement
This Friday morning, no school transport service was provided.
"We can only invite people to stay at home and avoid any non-urgent movement", indicate the firefighters, who recall that "weather vigilance for the risk of rain is maintained for the whole day until midnight".
Several accidents also took place in Vendée, a neighboring department which had been classified in red vigilance.
