The French president cancels his trip next Monday and Tuesday to the Chadian capital to participate in the G5 Sahel summit.

A cancellation “only” from, ensures the Elysee, “for health reasons”.

Emmanuel Macron will therefore participate by videoconference in the closed session of the G5 heads of state on Monday afternoon and then in the plenary meeting extended to international partners on Tuesday morning.

Initially, the French president was to arrive on Monday afternoon and stay overnight.

On Wednesday, the Elysée reviewed the program and only counted on a one-day trip.

Emmanuel Macron will still participate in this summit by videoconference.

But contrary to what seemed to be emerging, he will not announce on this occasion a reduction in Barkhane's contingent.
