The fire brigade had moved back in the evening after a two-hour fire-fighting operation, said a fire brigade spokesman for the dpa.

The scene of the fire had been handed over to the police.

An emergency call was received at 5 p.m. that a house was on fire.

During the extinguishing work, the emergency services came across the five bodies.

At around 7.30 p.m., the fire brigade had withdrawn.

There was “nothing more to be done”.

Window panes on the house were shattered, said a photographer on site of the dpa.

Strong traces of fire can not be seen on the house.

The white, elongated house with a ground floor and a partially developed attic is located on a main road on the edge of Radevormwald in the Herbeck district.

The site of the accident was cordoned off over a large area.
