Würzburg (dpa / lby) - In the trial of the violent death of a baby in Lower Franconia, the psychiatric expert assessed the 24-year-old defendant as fully culpable.

The expert said on Friday in front of the Würzburg regional court.

The German is accused of mistreating and suffocating his then partner's baby shortly before Christmas 2019, he denies this.

For the psychiatric report, the psychiatrist took part in the main hearing and carried out tests with the defendant for several hours.

She described his intelligence quotient as "normal" - there was neither a decrease in intelligence nor a change in personality caused by addiction that could reduce a person's capacity to be guilty.

The 24-year-old had regularly consumed narcotics for years, according to his own statements up to a few hours before his arrest in December 2019.

The expert emphasized that the use of cannabis he said did not make people aggressive, but rather had the opposite effect.

Rather, the basic aggressiveness of the accused should be assumed as the cause of the possible crime.

The "narcissistic traits" of the accused are noticeable, who is also "poor in empathy and very serene", but describes himself as a "helpful and selfless person".

The man who is charged with murder tends to overestimate himself, the appraiser concluded.

The 24-year-old has a "lack of guilt" and does not learn from mistakes.

She recommended placement in a social facility where criminals learn to empathize with victims.

The verdict is expected at the end of the month.
